Hope’s Clarity is a dream that was joked about in 2011 between my best friend and I when she found out I was going back to school to be a therapist. I had been a school bus driver for 16 years and loved my job as I felt I was making a difference in those student’s lives on a day-to-day basis. Little did I know that those students would be bringing me their heart wrenching problems that overwhelmed them from home. Problems like lack of food, warm clothing, alcoholic parents, and the list goes on. Sure, I could put money on their lunch and breakfast accounts, which I did. I could bring them warm winter gear, which I did, but I wanted to be equipped to do so much more. I wanted to help them deal with the emotional repercussions of those challenges and help them find ways to cope in their situation until someone could help them change their situation. I wanted to help them find the skills they would need to be able to live their best life. I knew I would need to go back to school to retrain for a newer more rewarding career.
In 2013 I enrolled in Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia as an undergrad. I completed my graduate studies in 2022. I have been doing my post graduate supervised internship at a local 501 ©(3) in Pearland. I hope to help take the stigma out of receiving mental health services one client at a time.
We all have a story. It is a mixture of who we are at our core. It encompasses our strengths, values, hopes, dreams, fears, failures, and successes. Oftentimes there are parts of our story that we would like to omit because we view those parts through a lens of guilt, shame, and or regret. Here at Hope’s Clarity, we would be honored to partner with you on your journey to make peace with your story. Yes, even the parts that you would like to omit. The parts of our story that we often want to omit almost certainly identify our greatest strengths and strongest sources of hope. These are often defining moments in our lives that have altered us, maybe shaken our faith, and fractured our resolve. Those defining moments do not have to be clouded with the lens of guilt, shame, or regret as those instances have molded us into the person we are today. Clarity has often been defined as transparency or purity. At Hope’s Clarity, we hope to help you find the liberating to live a daily life of transparency and purity living out your authentic self in honor of your personal story.
I was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I graduated from Liberty University with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Mental Health has been given much attention as of late; however, the stigma of mental health still exists. I hope to reduce that stigma one encounter at a time. Counseling chose me through interactions with children for 16 years as a school bus driver. I saw many children go to school without proper winter clothing or lunch. I often sat and listened as children tearfully recounted difficulties at home. I knew I was ill-equipped to help them through those issues and vowed to get equipped. The theories I gravitate towards are person-centered therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. I am also a SYMBIS facilitator and can assist couples with identifying areas in relationships where they can utilize their different styles to bring a well-rounded wholeness to their relationship. I look forward to gaining your trust to walk beside you through your mental health journey.
When I am away from the office, I enjoy spending my time with friends and family. I also spend a lot of time with my dog. I enjoy fishing any chance that I can get. I also enjoy working on vehicles, doing a puzzle, or reading a good book.
